The National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) has reaffirmed its commitment to innovation in teacher education with the official flag-off of a five-year partnership project with the African Forum for Innovative Teachers (AFFIT).

The event, held at NCCE, marked a major step toward equipping colleges of education across Nigeria with modern teaching methodologies, digital tools, and creative pedagogical practices.
Director General of AFFIT, Dr. Ogah Emmanuel, explained that the initiative aims to transform teacher training by strengthening curricula, fostering collaboration, and promoting creativity among educators. He noted that the partnership, which will extend to institutions across all six geopolitical zones, is designed to ensure nationwide impact and accountability through regular progress updates.

Stakeholders from the Ministry of Education, NECO, JAMB, WAEC, and other related agencies attended the ceremony alongside representatives of the traditional and political class. The Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Education also participated, as they are expected to play a critical role in hosting and facilitating the programme in their institutions.

Highlighting the importance of the partnership, Dr. Emmanuel said that the colleges need to understand that the initiative is in collaboration with NCCE and for their direct benefit. He emphasized that the goal is to support lecturers and prepare students with the skills to meet the challenges of modern classrooms.
